It's Wednesday, which means I don't have to shackle myself to a desk in my front room via a wired headset and speak corporate speak. And rather than stay at home, I've bus'd it to town and cashed in my "free" coffee that I get as an incentive to keep active and earn imaginary points on my health insurance that I likely pay way too much for.
I might need an ego check - I'm sat in a coffee shop, on a working day, with a bulky ThinkPad running Arch Linux, running Omarchy, writing html code like I'm some pretencious hipster hacker. People might look over and go "ooh he looks like he knows what he's doing like I don't use AI to help to fix my code whenever something breaks.
Or is that part of the fun?
It's the challenge - anyone could use Substack or Wordpress and post their ramblings (written in a public coffee shop, of course), and still feel good about themselves.
Who am I doing it for? Me I guess.
Do I enjoy it, and does it feel fulfilling? Yeah sure.
Does it feel like I'm semi-learning something and showcasing it in my own little way? I guess so.
